The Winery Dogs
Words cannot do justice to the performance the Winery Dogs put on at Sony Hall in NYC. From the moment the house lights dimmed and “Who Let The Dogs Out?” came blasting through the PA, it was not stop, in-your-face, hard hitting Rock & Roll from start to finish! All musicians are reputable and respected free agents in their own rite; Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, Neal Morse Band, Metal Allegiance and Sons of Apollo on drums, Richie Kotzen who played with Poison and Mr. Big and also making special appearances with Glenn Hughes and Greg Howe, not to mention a prolific solo career providing lead vocals, guitars and keyboard, and of course Billy Sheehan with a polished resume to include career highlights with Talas, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big and Sons of Apollo it would be an insult to say he only provided bass! Billy is not just a bass player. He has been called the Eddie Van Halen of the bass guitar and he provides so much more than just a back beat. It could easily be said he provides lead bass, which many guitarists find it hard to keep up, and he does so quite effortlessly! Together, this power-house trio is a force to be reckoned with! The Dogs have a muzzle on in regard to a future together and I certainly hope they continue to indulge us with their ferocious style of rock & roll but one thing’s for certain; whoever’s responsible for letting the dogs out, needs a raise!
