Ringo Starr
It was a bit disheartening that I couldnt use my “real” camera for this show, I mean, it’s Ringo Starr for goodness sakes; A BEATLE!! Unfortunately, I was forewarned that the Beacon is tight in regard to who is allowed to shoot the shows. As a matter of fact, aside from other photographers like myself, there was only one “real” photographer that I noticed and I didnt see him until Ringo announced a “special guest” on drums, which was Philip Selway of Radiohead. I figured the photographer was for him. He quickly snapped a few shots from different angles and he was outta there quick.
As for my experience, the stage was full of outstanding musicians, a true All-Starr Band including Todd Rundgren, Steve Lukather of Toto, Gregg Rolle of Santana and co-founder of Journey, Gregg Bissonette of David Lee Roth, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani, Warren Ham and Richard Page of Mister Mister. All of which are phenomenal musicians with an outstanding rapport with one another. Aside from the obvious Ringo songs, Todd, Gregg Rolle, Steve Lukather and Richard Page all took turns at the microphone singing their big hits although Gregg Rolle didnt sing any Journey songs to my disappointment!
As for the photos. Yes, I am quite disappointed with the quality of the shots I got. Even though I was quite close to the stage, my Canon SX40 HS Powershot is becoming more of a let down with each show. Perhaps its time to invest in a better Point and Shoot for those shows I cant get my DSLR cameras in to!
